I am Tuyen Ha Van, a remote sensing and GeoAI specialist at Remote Sensing Solutions, Germany. My work centers around the applications of remote sensing and geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) for monitoring environmental change - from deforestation and canopy height monitoring to the impacts of climate-driven disturbances across diverse ecosystems.
I hold a PhD in Remote Sensing, earned jointly through the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the University of Würzburg, where I developed a monitoring framework for characterizing drought hazards and assessed its impact on ecosystems using remote sensing time series data.
My research and professional interests include:
Earth Observation - processing and analyzing multi-source satellite imagery (optical, SAR, multispectral)
GeoAI - applying deep learning and machine learning to geospatial problems
Environmental Monitoring - tracking land use/land cover change, forest disturbance, and ecosystem dynamics
Open Science - building reproducible workflows and sharing tools with the broader geospatial community
